At the beginning, most children need a solid foundation. Piano method books give us a good place to start, helping them learn the basics step by step and become comfortable at the piano.
But learning the notes is only the beginning.
As their skills develop, we can move into classical music, film music, pop, blues, jazz and improvisation—or simply work on a song they really want to play.
Because the goal isn’t just to learn how to play the piano.
It’s to learn how to make music—not just hit the keys.

Children don’t only learn about music—they learn by actually making it. Playing, listening and experimenting help the things they learn become part of their musical understanding.
Lessons take place on a Steinway grand piano in a bright, acoustically designed studio overlooking the Eifel. It’s a beautiful place to learn and discover the sound of a real piano.
Method books are an important starting point for most children. They give your child the foundations they need, while the music itself keeps learning meaningful.
As children develop, there is space for the music they become curious about—whether that’s classical music, film music, pop, blues, jazz, improvisation or a song they really want to play. Their interests can become part of their musical journey.
Every child is different. Individual lessons give me the chance to notice how your child learns, where they need help and where they are ready to explore further.
Over the years, I’ve created my own materials to support my teaching, including videos, recordings and other resources that children can use alongside their lessons.
I’m a professional pianist and composer, and I still perform. So your child learns from someone who is still actively involved in making music.
The aim is bigger than learning a collection of pieces. It’s about giving your child skills, curiosity and a relationship with music they can carry with them for years to come.
Benedikt started learning piano with me when he was seven. At first, it was about the basics: learning to read music, getting comfortable at the piano and building the skills he needed to play.
But children change, and their interests change with them.
As Benedikt grew, the lessons grew with him. We moved beyond the method books and started working on music he actually wanted to play—sometimes from sheet music, sometimes from videos when there were no notes available. The piano became less about following a lesson and more about finding his own way into music.
I also taught both of his brothers, but Benedikt stayed with me the longest. Over the years, I had the chance to see not just his playing develop, but his relationship with music change as he grew up.
That’s something I find especially rewarding about teaching children.
You don’t know at seven where music might take them. You simply give them the foundation, the encouragement and the space to find out.

Family life isn’t always predictable. School events, holidays and other commitments can get in the way of a fixed weekly routine. That’s why I offer flexible scheduling and lesson passes rather than rigid long-term commitments.
You don’t have to decide based on a website alone. The introductory lesson gives your child a chance to experience how I teach, and gives us both a chance to see if we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure to continue if it doesn’t feel right.
